The Gibraltar Start-Up Hub initiative is designed to support the development of early-stage businesses by providing affordable, flexible workspace and access to guidance and mentorship. Hubs will be located in collaboration with landlords with suitable premises across Gibraltar and operated under a new charitable structure established by HM Government of Gibraltar.
Start-Up Hubs are open to eligible businesses that are in the early stages of development and demonstrate potential for growth or innovation. Applicants will be invited to submit a short application form available below, which will be reviewed by a referral panel. The panel will consider criteria such as business viability, commitment to participation, and the potential benefits of joining the hub.
Further hubs may be introduced in the future through partnerships with private landlords. Interested property owners are encouraged to contact the Ministry for Health, Care and Business or the CEO of Business.
The Peter J. Isola Start-Up Hub
The first hub to launch under this initiative was the Peter J. Isola Start-Up Hub, located at Europort. This space has been made possible through a partnership with the Peter J. Isola Foundation, which has generously agreed to fund the cost of the premises for the first cohort of participating businesses. Umee have also kindly donated the cost of internet facilities.
The hub will operate as a shared co-working space, allowing several start-ups to work from the location at the same time. The environment is intended to encourage collaboration, innovation and enterprise, with access to guidance from Government officers and mentoring businesses as well as links to business support services.
Participating businesses will be selected by a referral panel and will be invited to use the hub for up to 12 months. Businesses will only be required to contribute to their share of service charges [calculated at a cost of £100 per month per business] and utility costs.
Applications to join the Peter J. Isola Start-Up Hub can be made online through the form available below. Applicants will need to provide key business details and a short statement explaining how they plan to make use of the space and how their business may benefit from participating in the scheme.
